Watching Marty Sammon and Doug McDonald perform is not your average day in school, but that's how several music majors at UWMC spent part of their day.
The Great Northern Blues Society asked the two artists to come to campus to perform and answer questions from the students.
Sammon has been playing in blues clubs since he was 15.
He's played with legendary artists like Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana and The Rolling Stones.
"To see professionals who can do it and see it's possible to make a living and that you can enjoy it, you don't see that in school, you only see that in the real world", explains Sammon.
Guitarist doug mcdonald's influences go back a little farther, he's recorded with blues legends like Jimmy Reed and Junior Wells.
Mcdonald is known as one of the best rhythm guitar players in the blues music scene.
"I'm from the old school, so i know about all those guys, Lightning Hopkins, T-Bone Walker, B.B. King, Earl Hooker, all those guys", says McDonald.
Both Sammon and McDonald are currently in Wausau, touring with blues legend Buddy Guy.
The full Buddy Guy Band will be performing at the Rothschild Pavillion on Thursday night.
