Biggest and Best Venison Feast in Wisconsin

Hunting is not only about bagging that trophy buck. It’s also about getting some tasty meat and sharing the stories of the hunt.

That’s exactly what hundreds of hunters did at Tomahawk’s venison feed, and it’s a tradition that’s been around for 47 years.

It brings characters and hunters from all over together in the name of celebrating this year’s deer season.

Evan Duga, a resident of Florida said, “I’ve been coming up here for as long as I can remember for Thanksgiving. We come up here to hunt and hang out, but mostly to hunt.”

Another hunter who loves to come back to the venison feast is Ralph Basile. He has been hunting for years and loves everything about this season. He told us, “I’ve been living here for about 60 years, and been hunting deer for 70.”

Each year, the venison is donated from the summer up until the fall. Then its processed locally and awaits its cooking date. With 5 grills and 4 men each, they serve hundreds of hungry hunters who swear their motivation comes from the venison feed.

About 2000 venison burgers were cooked, and in about 45 minutes they were all gone.
