BELOIT, Wis. (AP) -- A Beloit man who was injured in a gas explosion that destroyed his home has died.
The Rock County Coroner says 37-year-old Todd Purdy died Thursday. He had been in critical condition at UW-Madison Hospital with second- and third-degree burns.
His wife, 33-year-old Tara Purdy, was also injured in the blast Sunday.
The Beloit Fire Department says its investigators and the State Fire Marshal's Office determined earlier this week that the couple didn't know the gas line in their basement was uncapped when they installed a new gas stove. The basement filled with gas, and something caused it to ignite.
