Making healthy choices during the busy back to school time is not always easy. We found some helpful tips to help your kids stay healthy throughout the year.
Julie Jensen, mom of four boys, says that taking a half hour every night to prepare lunches for the next day helps her stay organized. Remember to keep the lunches balanced.
Registered Dietitian Marianne Merrick shares that each meal should include fruit, vegetables, protein, and milk. Quick options like lunchables and prepackaged and processed foods should be avoided. Also, do not be afraid to have your kids help you out with packing their lunch. Experts say that makes them more likely to eat what is in their lunch.
Good hygiene practices should not be forgotten either. Dr. Megan Jensen reminds parents to make sure their kids are washing their hands before meals and any time they are coming back from outdoor activity.
