Birnamwood Fire Chief Randy Berger tells Newschannel 7 that the fire at Kersten Lumber on Hwy. 45 in Birnamwood is now out.
Chief Berger says it was first reported around 9:45 p.m. Sunday. An alarm company told emergency responders that the sprinkler system was activated.
Fire crews say the fire was fairly large, in the back of a saw mill, when they arrived on scene, but the sprinkler helped to control most of it.
Chief Berger says he believes the cause of the fire to be electrical, but the exact cause is still under investigation.
No one was hurt and no lumber was affected.
Mattoon Fire, Hatley Fire and Birnamwood Fire Departments responded.
