MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The military arm of the Better Business Bureau is warning service members to beware of scams targeting them.

The nonprofit group reports that scams include high interest rates and hidden fees on loans and quick car sales for deployed soldiers.

Some groups offer to buy veterans' benefits with a cash lump sum. The BBB says cash buyouts typically amount to about 30 to 40 percent of the actual amount veterans are entitled to.

The group also recommends investigating before donating to military veteran charities.

The BBB also tells military members ahead of Memorial Day weekend to research any agency offering deals tailored to them before making a deal.
