Last seen: April 5
Brown hair and brown eyes
Tuesday marked two months since a Vilas County woman was last seen. Sandra Schinke, spoke to her husband, who works in North Dakota, around 6 p.m. on April 4. When he hadn’t been able to get a hold of her at all the next day he called the sheriff’s department. They’ve been searching for her ever since.
"It gets harder and harder every day without knowing," Schinke's daughter Joni McIntee said. "But the support is unbelievable. I thank God for that as well."
Sandra’s brother told NewsChannel 7 during an interview in April, she previously lived in Oklahoma and North Carolina and the family is hoping to spread the word to those states that she is missing.
Schinke's daughter, Joni McIntee says she spoke to her mom two days before she disappeared, and says there was no indication anything was wrong. But McIntee says when she called her mom on Friday and she didn't answer, she knew right away something wasn't right. Now, McIntee, with help from family and members of the Wisconsin Rapids community, are putting up signs and wearing Schinke's favorite color, purple, in the hopes of bringing her home safe and sound.
"I'm being strong because that's the way she raised me and that's the way she would have wanted me to be," McIntee said. "It's very unlike her. We've never not had contact with one another. Me and my mother are very very close."
Someone reported seeing Schinke walking on Highway N, but her family says she wouldn’t have been walking near there and don’t believe the caller actually spotted her, but most likely another woman who looks similar to Schinke.
Sandra Schinke is described as 5 foot, 3 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds, with brown shoulder length hair, brown eyes, and wearing glasses. She is 55-years-old.
If you know any information about Schinke's whereabouts you are asked to contact the Vilas County Sheriff's Department at (715) 479-4441.
