UPDATE: Counselors Help with Loss of Stoughton High Teens
Stoughton High School is making counselors available next week to help students cope with the loss of two classmates whose bodies were recovered from a Dane County lake.
Classes have ended for the school year, but Stoughton High administrators say the school will be open to any student needing to talk. The bodies of the 16-year-old girls were found Friday near the shore of Lake Kegonsa near where they had left their cellphones, purses and shoes before going for a swim on Thursday afternoon. Dane County sheriff's officials say Emma Mauer and Sydnie Kwiatkowski (kweye-at-KOW'-skee) appeared to have drowned accidentally and that there were no indications of foul play.
The State Journal says family members and friends gathered on shore Friday as authorities searched the lake and the area for the girls.

Authorities believe two teenage girls who disappeared near a Dane County lake accidentally drowned.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Elise Schaffer says there are no indications of foul play in the deaths of Emma Mauer of Stoughton and Sydnie Kwiatkowski of Footville.
Deputies recovered the bodies of the 16-year-old girls from Lake Kegonsa on Friday. One girl's body was found in the water shortly before noon, and the second girl's body was found about four hours later.
Their bodies were found near where the girls' personal items were left on shore Thursday afternoon.
Sheriff Dave Mahoney says the two were last seen swimming in Lake Kegonsa in LaFollette County Park about 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Their friends left the area for a time and said the girls were gone when they returned.
