Students in the Chequamegon School District arrived home much later than normal Monday evening after a possible threat near the Glidden School.
According to the district's website, the school went into lockdown mode around 2:30 pm after school employees heard what were thought to be gunshots. The school remained on lockdown until 4 pm.
According to an Ashland newspaper, eight officers responded to the school and conducted house-to-house searches, but found nothing.
The Ashland County Sheriff's tells the paper it's something they take very seriously, and it's better to be safe than sorry.
