John Lund has resigned from his job as principal of Pleasant View Elementary School in Antigo.
Lund, who also served as a coach with the district, submitted the resignation during a special school board meeting Thursday night. In a unanimous decision, members accepted his resignation.
"Mr. Lund submitted his resignation just prior to the board meeting," the district's attorney Dean Dietrich said. "Action has been taken to accept that resignation and any further employment issues with Mr. Lund will not be engaged in further."
Lund has been on unpaid leave since he was charged with 8 felonies--including marijuana possession and maintaining a drug trafficking place--in a drug scandal that's rocked the community. Before charges were filed, he was on paid administrative leave.
Four other district employees also named in the investigation are currently on paid administrative leave, Joe Adams, Mark Incha, Jeff Neufeld and Dan Witman.
"The district is conducting its investigation into what the conduct was, and how the conduct may or may not affect their position in the duties they perform for the school district," Dietrich said.
The board is expected to make a decision on whether or not to keep them on paid leave within the next five to 10 days. They have not been charged in the case.
