Antigo Kicks Off Holidays with Parade, Chili Cook-off

Nearly 40 participants will spend a majority of Wednesday adding a dash of this, and a sprinkle of that to create their the perfect recipe during the 15th Annual Chili Cook-off in downtown Antigo.

The cook-off starts at 8 am on December 5th. Participants will prepare one Nesco of chili, from start to finish, on the sidewalks along Fifth Avenue.

Chili makers can enter either the traditional or Roughneck categories. Entries will be judged based on aroma, consistency, taste, and texture. Judging samples must be ready at 3 pm and winners will be announced at 6 pm. The public will be able to sample chili recipes after 5 pm.

A portion of Fifth Avenue will be reduced to one lane in both directions.

Following the chili cook-off, the public is invited to stick around for Christmas parade which begins at 6:30 pm.

The parade begins at St. John's Catholic Church and travels north on Field Street, turning west on Fifth Avenue, turns north on Dorr St, turns east onto 3rd Avenue and continues to St. Mary/Hyacinth's Church parking lot.

This year's theme is Christmas stories.
