Antigo High School is hoping to put an end to the rumors that the high school band or choir program will be eliminated due to budget issues.
According to a post on the Antigo High's Facebook page, the school writes the high school band and choir programs are not areas that the administration or School Board are considering part of the overall budget reduction plan.
The school says on Friday they received calls from parents and students about the possible elimination of the programs.
Here the information from the Antigo High School's Facebook page:
Today a rumor spread throughout the high school regarding eliminating high school band or choir due to district budget issues.
Several students and parents contacted the high school administration to question this information. The correct information is that the school board is looking at all K-12 programs and staffing in order to make-up the projected shortfall for the 2013-2014 school year.
The high school band and choir programs are not areas that the administration or School Board are considering part of the overall budget reduction plan.
To gain support for this issue some students, parents, and staff members have encouraged others to attend the School Board meeting on Monday evening. The meeting agenda does not include any discussion or action item related to proposed cuts to the high school music programs.
