Alzheimer's Walk Brings Community Together, Even Pooches

Updated: Sat 6:39 PM, Sep 22, 2012

Along with many other events that created awareness today, the Alzheimer’s Walk to End The Disease took place at Marathon Park in Wausau. The disease not only effects the person suffering from it, but it also can be hard for the families attached to that loved one.

Understanding the disease is the best way to learn how to fight it, but organizers say that bringing walks to our area also helps towards the cause.

Cathy Davies, Fund Development Director for the Alzheimer’s Association shared, “This is our main fundraiser, but more importantly it’s a strong awareness builder and its also an opportunity for families in this community to come together and learn about other people that are impacted by the disease.”

Organizers say the association also has a hot line for questions and concerns that is available 24/7. They help direct local resources that connect with out reach specialists to help you.

That number is 1-800-272-3900 or learn more about the symptoms at www.alz.org.
