Adams Co. Correction Officer Charged with Sexual Assault of Inmate will Head to Trial

A jury trial is expected to begin September 12 for an Adams County correction officer accused of having sex with a 27-year-old inmate.

According to online court records, Dawn Bradshaw, 41, is charged with second degree sexual assault. She pleaded not guilty to the charge in October.

The alleged crime took place between September and October of 2010. Charges were filed in July 2011 in Adams County.

If convicted Bradshaw faces a maximum of 40 years behind bars and a $100,000 fine.

Wow-if any of you folks believe that this woman will be sentenced and actually do 40 yrs., you must believe in the tooth fairy too. Why would she get 40 yrs. when the pervs that rape babies and torture animals get probation? Yes, she was stupid and what she did was so disgusting, I can't hardly believe it. But, this wasn't some poor, helpless child being abused. This was a sick criminal to begin with, so let's get off our high horse about his 'victimization'.

put her in the jail she did it in, that'll fix her, I have no concern for people like this, specially someone taking care of peoples family matter, most of these guards are just as bad as there criminal inmates they are supposed to help..

We all have a sense of right and wrong. Trying to use feelings to fix broken emotions will never work. This society dictates what the rolls of a men and women are. All I see in this situation is two people that are emotional broken and tried to help each other. But they are still both broke. There is no pill for broken emotions.

I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT THIS CASE BUT HOW DO WE KNOW IT WAS ABUSE, MAYBE IT WAS A ROMANCE & HE WAS ENJOYING EVERY MINUTE. WEATHER HE WAS ENJOYING IT OR WAS AFRAID TO REPORT IT I THINK SHE SHOULD LOSE HER JOB BUT 40 YEARS IS A BIT MUCH.

I bet this is not the first guy this Female SGT. assulted! I'm guessing she has done this in the past. It sounds to me like she knew what she was doing, taking him out at night, un-cuffed, to a private location out of sight from others. I know she even dated an inmate prior to this after he was released and the county had to pay to have him housed in another jail when he was arrested again!! Great misuse of county money!!! Look at the facts people! This soon to be felon had a thing for guys she could control! When you work at a jail, you should go there looking to do your job, not go there looking for a date! Her track record speaks for itself! GUILT!!! FELON!!!! SEE YA IN 40 YEARS!!!!!

Some say that he didnt feel pressure to act? Do you know this? Whatever he was in there does not have anything to do with this case. The issue is she came on to him, and he was probally scared and intimidated by her power. He did not commit a crime, and yes, she committed a FELONY! Not a ticket or minor charge, a FELONY!! The charge is assult of an inmate, and if found guilty I hope to see her freedom taken for 40 years. Then she has pleanty of time to think about her FELONY! Do the crime, do the time! 40 years seems fair.

Some people are quick to judge when relying on surface information. Some say they know why the man was in jail to begin with, but do they really have all the details or just what they hear from all the fine upstanding trailor trash that have nothing better to do than gossip and add their own twist to things in order to make their pathetic lives seem better......

Some of you dolts just don't get it. Doesn't sound to me like she Assaulted this guy. She probably struck up a relationship and they both did it willingly. I am quite sure he didn't feel any PRESSURE to act on the sexual advances. She deserves to lose her job, and be judged accordingly, but for anyone that thinks she needs to spend 40 years in jail, just isn't that bright.

Karma, Karma, Karma! After she abuses and mistreats an inmate, she now, will become an inmate when found guilty. Ex-Law enforcement do not get treated well in jails or prisons, so she is in for a long hard road, which she deserves, when found guilty. She will be 81 years old when released if found guilty, and then have to register as a sex offender. I hope that is enough time to reflect on her crime. Like Mama and papy always said, don't do the crime, unless your willing to do the time. She stated she just commited a felony, now you must pay for it SGT Bradshaw. You must pay!

Hey Outraged 2, SHE WAS THE SUPERVISOR!!!!!!! This was done by a SGT! Her job is to supervise the other jailers to make sure they do their jobs. Now, lets hope our judge does not give her a slap on the wrist and some probation. She needs some HARD TIME! 30-40 years locked up in a womens prison and a lifetime of probation and being a life time member of the sexual offender register list sounds fitting for her felony crime. If this is going on by a supervisor, what kind of staff do they hire? Not saying the staff there is bad, but if someone like this gets promoted, who is doing the back ground checks on these people? I hear that former cops don't get treated good in prison though. If found guilty I'm guessing she will have to be in a special prison, or locked up all the time for her safety. Guess being locked up in a cell, by your self for 30-40 years would be fitting.
