A 22-year-old Adams man has pleaded not guilty to homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle after boating accident left one person dead.
The Juneau County Sheriff's Department said in a press release, on July 21 dispatch received a report of a boat accident on Castle Rock Lake in the Town of Germantown around 11:50 pm. The reporting party advised that there were five people in a boat that struck a rock near County Road G and Water Street. The crash killed 23-year-old Michael Miklavicic of Friendship.
The driver, Christopher Collins faces a possible sentence of 25 years in prison if convicted. Collins allegedly told a deputy he heard someone yell a warning and tried unsuccessfully to steer around a bridge support. He said he had four or five beers before the crash. His blood alcohol level was 0.13 percent.
