The Adams County Sheriff's Department has announced the department will acquire a second K9 officer.
Sheriff Wollin said in a news release, Deputy Josh Czys will be the K-9 handler. Sheriff Wollin said Prospective candidates appeared before a selection board where they were not only interviewed, but also required to give a mock K-9 presentation.
Deputy Czys is expected to begin his new duties in November when he will travel to Vohne Liche Kennels in Indiana to select and train with the dog for six weeks.
The Sheriff’s Office said a second K9 officer means the department will have a K9 working daily on opposite rotations.
The K-9 unit is funded through private donations.
