The Greenhouse Project has provided Farmshed, a non-profit organization that has space to do more than just grow tasty fruits and vegetables. It’s also a place to come and learn.
Farmshed’s mission is aimed at improving the community’s relationship with food in all forms. Part of that mission is bringing kids in to learn more about their environment that gives food a learning dimension.
Layne Cozzolino, Executive Director said, “We have lots of programs for all ages. But one program in particular deals with an Edible Education program that was awarded to us with money for the Greenhouse Project. We want to bring kids on sight to educate them at the same time as food is present.”
Farmshed has a number of other opportunities for the community as a whole. As soon as construction moves along they’ll offer classes and other fun activities for even adults to participate in.
This grassroots movement is back by funding from the community, volunteers, and private funds. To join the movement or lend a helping hand, visit www.farmshed.org or call 715-544-6154 for more information.
