More students are enrolling in college than ever before, and they're getting older.
An adviser for UW-Marathon County says they've seen a significant increase in non-traditional students applying for next year.
At NTC the average age of students enrolled is about 34-years-old.
But younger students are also enrolling at 2-year schools at an increased rate.
"For the summer right now, we're 25% higher than we were last year and at this time we're about 14% higher than we were last year in the fall," said Shawn Sullivan, NTC Director of Student Relations.
"Enrollment has actually increased UW colleges wide compared wit this year to last year were actually up 7% total enrollment so its up substantially," said Morgan Rindfleisch, UWMC Financial Aid Specialist.
Both schools say the economy is behind more people enrolling.
NTC costs about $318 dollars per 3 credit class. At UWMC, it's about $568.
An adviser at UWMC says they have not increased tuition rates since 2006 to remain competitive.
Both colleges are accepting enrollment applications through the end of next month.
