Storm season is in full swing leaving some people without power.
That's why leaders at Wisconsin Public Service wants you to be prepared the next time the lights go out.
They say you should have water flashlights, and a radio on hand, so you are ready for the worst.
And when the power does go out, grab your cell phone. Kelly Zagrzebski from Wisconsin Public Service says, "We always encourage folks to call our 800 number when the power goes out. Even if they know that their neighbor across the street called. Just call in. The way some of the systems are set up, they may not be on the same meter they could have a service problem compared to a distribution problem."
She says many people head to their fridge to check on food. But if you want your food to stay cold, keep the fridge door closed.
Call 1-800-450-7240 if your home loses power.
