People Getting Ready for Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Wausau

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Wausau is on August 22nd.

People have begun organizing their teams and the fundraising has already started for the event that celebrates breast cancer survivors.

28-year-old Marshfield resident Meghan Christie was diagnosed with breast cancer five years ago. The mother of two had a double masectomy and reconstructive surgery. Now she has a clean bill of health.

Her family and friends are coming from as far away as Minnesota to walk and run with her in the event to celebrate her 5-year milestone.

"I think it's sort of putting a lid on this box and saying: let's do something fun to remember it and raise some funds for something that really helped us get through this," says Christie.
