Wausau teachers are starting their second school year without a contract, and they are protesting by working to their contract. That means they aren't doing any extra curricular activities, like helping out at sporting events.
Teachers are the natural choice to run the clock, supervise the crowd, and take tickets at sporting events because they are district employees, and they know the students and the rules. But now Wausau athletic directors are recruiting custodians, teacher's aides, and administrators to help out.
Many people have helped out before, but they might be in a new position now.
The major problems will occur during winter sports, when there are more activities and the seasons are longer.
