Safe Assured Kids

A group from central Wisconsin is breaking new ground in an international effort to help find missing children.

With help from the Marshfield Clinic, the Wausau optimists signed up kids for their Safe Assured Child ID Program at the Wausau Mall for free Saturday.

Using a DVD with the child's image, voice and fingerprints on it, the Safe Assured Program works with law enforcement to find missing kids.

"It can be transmitted anywhere in the country, immediately. It can be broadcast to the news media, like yourself or the amber alert system," said Romey Wagner from the Safe Assured Child ID Program.

Wagner says there are plans in place to expand the program worldwide.
