The DNR wants to raise camping fees at eight state campgrounds and forests. It's asking for a boost of $3 per night.
The department says it hasn't raised the fees since 1992. The issue will now go to a public hearing.
The only park in North Central Wisconsin that would be effected is Hartman Creek State Park near Waupaca.
The others proposed for the rate hike are Devils Lake, Kohler-Andae, Mirror Lake, Peninsula, Big Bay, Point Beach and Willow River.
