There may be fewer minors lighting up cigarettes in Marathon County thanks to many of the retailers that sell them.
Officials say they found 81 percent of the retailers in the county do not sell tobacco to minors.
They conducted retailer compliance checks by sending in undercover 15 to 17-year-olds to local stores to try to buy cigarettes.
None of the retailers tested in Rothschild, Edgar and Spencer sold tobacco to the teens.
