The annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb was held today at the Corporate Cove Tower in Wausau.
Participants climbed the eight story building 14 times in order to honor the firefighters who climbed the 110 stories of the World Trade Center in New York City.
Proceeds from the event went to benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
Many of those who took part in the climb are firefighters. First responders from as far away as Madison and Milwaukee turned out to participate.
Dorchester firefighter Justin Ingersoll says today was a good way to stand in solidarity with those who were killed in New York.
"It seems like a family. They are there to support whoever is in the service with them so we like to give support back." Ingersoll said.
The event also honored fallen Colby firefighter Jamison Kampmeyer who was killed in the line of duty last year.
