Officials are ordering a local magician and DJ to stop doing shows for children because he's a convicted sex offender, but the performer vehemently denies the accusation.
Police and prosecutors are telling 42-year-old Brian Stolzman of Wausau that he has 90 days to stop doing shows for kids or he'll be charged under a state law that forbids people convicted of a sex crime from working a job that interacts with children.
Stolzman performs under the name Brian West.
He entered an Alford plea to having sexual contact with a three-year-old girl in Door County in 1989. That means he maintained his innocence, but agreed that prosecutors had enough evidence for a conviction.
Stolzman says he did not assault the girl and that the accusation was made during an ugly divorce and custody dispute.
He also says he's speaking with an attorney to try to get the conviction overturned and that he's gotten a huge outpouring of support from the community.
Some of his friends have actually had bumper stickers printed up showing their support.
