MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Senator Herb Kohl is expected to be in Madison this morning to host a forum with state agriculture experts on the new Farm Bill.
The Senate is planning to debate the legislation when it reconvenes from summer vacation in September.
The legislation has wide-ranging jurisdiction over commodities, conservation, research and food programs.
The current Farm Bill expires this year, and Kohl is the Chairman of the Agriculture Appropriations panel in the Senate.
That panel oversees the budget for the federal Department of Agriculture.
