8 Arrested in Eagle River Drug Bust

The Vilas County Sheriff's Department tells NewsChannel 7 that while Thomas A. Ruth, 19, of Eagle River was questioned at the scene he was released and will not be facing any formal charges.

A press release sent to NewsChannel 7 May 21 indicated Ruth was arrested could face formal charges. Follow-up information revealed Ruth was not arrested, only questioned.

Nine people are facing criminal charges after a drug bust early Tuesday morning in Vilas County.

The Sheriff's Department said they executed a search warrant a home on the 600 block of State Highway 70 east of Eagle River concerning an ongoing investigation concerning the use and distribution of illicit drugs.

The sheriff's department says the following people were arrested as result:

Issac Vidal Jr, 17, of Eagle River
Deanna M. Worthen, 46, of Eagle River
Dylan Bleicher, 19, of Land O’Lakes
Joseph Woodward, 21, of Eagle River
Kasey J. Tank, 20, of Eagle River
Justin P. Brogdon, 19, of Bayfield
James M. Mahar, 19, of Conover
Thomas A. Ruth, 19, of Eagle River
Caleb R. Grosskopf, 19, of Eagle River

Investigators say they were arrested for drug related offenses, probation violations and outstanding arrest warrants.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice-Division of Criminal Investigation, Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, and Lac du Flambeau Tribal Police Department assisted the department.
