On the northwest side of Wausau fire crews were called to a home on the corner of 8th Avenue and Elm. The Wausau Fire Department continues to search for a cause into the blaze, and Wausau police officials tell News Channel 7 that they're looking into what they say could be arson.

A female occupant was found inside the home as it caught fire. Officials say she was found alive and was rushed to Wausau Community Hospital. Her name has not been released.

"We found one occupant we made a rescue, she is alive and she was transported to the hospital," says Chief Gary Buchberger of the Wausau Fire Department.

Before fire officials made their way into the burning home, they say they had to clear out heavy smoke. In order for police officials to search the home, they had to acquire a search warrant. Police say after searching, they came across "suspicious burning materials."

The Fire Department says it all started on the first floor of the home.
