Volunteer firefighters from across the state are learning new skills to help better save lives. They're taking part in the Wisconsin Fighterfighters Association convention in Stevens Point.
Barry Kuenkel, board member of the WFA says the three day event features classes on managing the public during disasters, working with the media, and how to stay healthy.
"It gives a weekend where they can get good training and have a good time all at the same time," said Kuenkel.
The event also brings in vendors from across the country to show off the latest firefighting gear. The convention runs through Saturday at the Holiday Inn hotel. The public is welcome to come look at fire trucks and equipment.
