Military Experience Important for Veterans

Many people will tune in to hear presidential hopeful John Kerry speak tonight at the Democratic National Convention.  It's Kerry's military background that's been the centerpiece of the campaign coverage, and captured the hearts of some local vets.

"John Kerry's war record means a lot to me; I think he was a real leader in Vietnam," says Dave Cullen, Vietnam Veteran.

"He did a lot for this country just by being in Vietnam," says Kenneth Gleesing, U.S. Marine.

News Channel 7 interviewed several veterans in Shawno Thursday afternoon, an although our current president George W. Bush served under the National Guard, it seemed as though John Kerry ranked at the top of their list.  Kerry voluntarily served in Vietnam, earning three purple hearts.
