Powerline Debate

Two groups will have a second chance to argue against a plan to build a 210-mile power line in northern Wisconsin.

Save Our Unique Lands and Wisconsin's Environmental Decade both filed lawsuits last year seeking to overturn the state Public Service Commission's approval of the power line from Wausau to Duluth, Minnesota.

In March, Marathon County Circuit Court Judge Vincent Howard rejected both groups and their arguments from the case because of procedural errors in the filing and serving of the lawsuits.

But Howard ruled last week that the utility watchdog group Citizens' Utility Board can amend its own lawsuit over the power line. That allows SOUL and Environmental Decade to re-open several issues.
