SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) -- Sheboygan County officials say an inmate has been mistakenly released after a Corrections officer failed to notice the man's probation violation.
Sheriff Michael Helmke said Friday an arrest warrant has been issued for 35-year-old Marqus D. Hatch.
Hatch is charged with a misdemeanor count of lewd and lascivious behavior. Corrections staff released him Tuesday after he was granted a signature bond. But he shouldn't have been allowed to leave because of a probation hold for operating a vehicle without the owner's consent.
The sheriff's department is conducting an internal investigation. Helmke says the employee involved in Hatch's release has been placed on administrative leave.
Authorities are asking anyone with knowledge of Hatch's whereabouts to contact them.
