Two fire departments are out a ladder truck while it gets some needed repairs.

An inspection found that the bucket truck that Weston shares with Wausau needs more than $11,000 in work.

The repairs are being paid for by the city of Wausau.

Weston's fire chief says the work is needed to help keep firefighters safe.

"Our mission is to save lives and protect property, and the only way to do that is to have equipment that meets a standard so that our firefighters are safe, which in turn will make our citizens safe," says Chief Steve Meilahn.

Wausau's Department of Public Works is fixing the truck's breaks, lights, and a few seals.

The truck will then be sent to a shop in Fremont to have it's water pump replaced.

Leaders hope the repairs will be finished within a couple of weeks.
