When you head out to buy school supplies for your children this year you might want to pick up a few extra items.
The Fill a Backpack, Fill a Need campaign kicks off Monday in Marathon County. Organizers are collecting back to school items for less fortunate children.
Any kid who's eligible for free lunch can also get a backpack filled with everything from paper to protractors. The drive, which is in its fifth year, normally helps about 1,700 kids.
Collection sights will be up by July 26. The backpacks will be given out August 14.
If you'd like to help separate donated items or fill them into the backpacks call the Volunteer Center of Marathon County at (715) 261-6671.
