SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) -- A Sheboygan man has changed his plea from not guilty to no contest in a gas station crash that killed a teenage clerk.
Prosecutors reached a plea agreement with 32-year-old Jeremy Pfister and will recommend he serve six months in jail on a misdemeanor reckless driving charge. Also, Sheboygan County District Attorney Joe DeCecco said he will recommend a deferred two-year prison sentence on felony homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle. Prison would be waived if Pfister meets the terms of the deferred sentence.
Eighteen-year-old Emily Hughes was killed last July as she stood behind the counter at the Pig Stop in Sheboygan. Pfister was driving the minivan from the passenger seat when he backed through the side of the building and struck Hughes.
The Sheboygan Press reports sentencing will be April 30.
