Wood County authorities are concerned that heroin use may be on the rise.
Last Thursday, 26-year-old Curtis Mallory was arrested and charged with possession with intent to sell heroin.
In a raid of Mallory's home, authorities found nearly $15,000 worth of the drug.
A lieutenant says the quantity of heroin indicates a high level demand.
"The type of drug is heroin, which is unusual at this point in this area, we know heroin is coming into this area, but this is Wood County's first major arrest regarding this type of drug," says Lt. Bob Levendoske, with the Wood County Sheriff's Department.
He says heroin has been making a come back in Central Wisconsin in recent years.
