The World Ice Fishing Championships came to an end today, but one Wisconsin angler is still on a mission to revolutionize the sport.

Dave Pflieger of Two Rivers has patented an ice auger he feels will greatly help ice fisherman.

His version of the auger is very similar to starting a lawnmower.

To operate it, a person pulls a cord which rotates the heads on the auger.

"The idea takes the fact that men are stronger doing this than the traditional augers, hand augers, which have a circular motion. It's very difficult for the human body to come across their body when they're cutting a hole," Dave Pflieger said.

He says he came up with the concept while watching a 55-year-old man struggle cutting a hole in the ice with a traditional auger.

Greg showed the auger to both the Polish and U.S. teams at the championships and received a positive response.

He is still looking for a company to mass produce his auger and get it into stores.
