NEW YORK (AP) -- Harley-Davidson Inc. says its CEO received a pay package valued at $6.4 million during his first eight months on the job.
Keith E. Wandell received a base salary of $650,025 from his start date of May 1 through the end of 2009. He received a bonus of $780,030 and stock and options worth $4.9 million at the time they were granted.
Wandell also received other compensation worth $22,515, which includes a cash payment of $19,733 in lieu of perquisites.
Wandell replaced James L. Ziemer, who retired last year after 40 years with the company and four years as its CEO.
The company, based in Milwaukee, says Ziemer received a pay package valued at $2.9 million during his last four months as CEO.

Kinda makes you want to buy a Harley...overpriced bike to pay an overpriced CEO.
What a coincidence! My unemployment check is right around $300. I'm sure we have the same friends. Actually, before we storm his castle with torches, $6.4 million doesn't buy what it used to.
Nice to see all these companies can pay so much money to the CEOs but cut jobs and pay their workers just barely enough.
