MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Dozens of Wisconsin groups affiliated with the tea party movement will gather this weekend at a Wisconsin Dells resort to discuss strategy, hear from national conservative leaders and Republican office holders, and look ahead to how they can influence the 2010 elections.

The annual meeting organized by conservative group Americans for Prosperity has all the feel of a tea party convention, even though there is no such official party in Wisconsin.

The meeting comes roughly a year after the first tea party rallies were held across the country and in Wisconsin. Organizers say that since those rallies, the number of groups loosely affiliated with the tea party movement in Wisconsin has grown to 68.

i am independent, i read the bill. can someone tell me why this is really so bad for wisconsin. It seems to me it will help our state get back on track in so many ways. Yes, we have to sacrifice, but isn't that worth it, to not be in debt, and to improve our education etc.? How many governers have given back 1/2 the money of their salaries? I don't agree with walkers pro life views, but he seems to be fiscally conscious and sincerely interested in trying to make things better. My family has enjoyed the security of teachers benefits all their lives, but the low to middle class common worker has suffered in this economy. Shouldn't all people have to contribute the same to their retirement, health etc.? If we are really talking about democracy and helping people how are the unions helping everyone (not just it's members)? Help me to understand why being against Walkers bill is for the people?

The Tea party has one thing correct, people are upset with politicians. Politicians Raise money to pay for their campaigns. When it comes time to get your money's worth. The campaign donations will decide which way they vote. That is what people are really mad about. You have a local candidate who is running with no campaign donations. The tea party should be supporting this kind of person. I would accept their support but, not their money. Leslie Smetak for governor.
