Some unique structures in Wausau could soon be named historic landmarks.
City Hall, Pleasant View Park, on the Southeast side, and the red granite structures at the entrances of Marathon Park are a few that could hold the title.
Some of them date back to the 1800s, and city leaders want to honor that history.
"We're quite excited, we really like to point out the historic nature of many structures and places within the city so that citizens of Wausau can see what their history is all about," says Gary Gisselman with the Wausau Historic Preservation Commission.
The City Plan Commission will talk about the landmarks at a meeting on Tuesday.
The Wausau City Council will have to approve the plan.
