A 17-year-old is being charged in adult court after prosecutors say he sent a threatening e-mail to every staff member at Amherst High School.

Jonathan Cronce is charged with unlawful use of a computerized communication system.

The honor student faces up to 3 months behind bars.

The Amherst High School junior was ordered to pay a $1,000 signature bond.

He can't posses a firearm, be within 1,000 feet from the school, or a fellow classmate authorities say he named in the threatening e-mail.

A Portage County sergeant says his department took no chances Wednesday morning after school leaders reported there was a threatening e-mail allegedly sent by Jonathan Cronce.

The sergeant says Cronce admitted to sending the e-mail.

Prosecutors say he was still upset over an incident that happened between him and another student about 6 weeks ago.

"The school addressed that incident and thought it had been resolved this defendant apparently wasn't satisfied and wanted some more attention that's why he wrote the e-mail," says Tom Eagon, the Portage County District Attorney.

The district attorney says Cronce told a teacher that he could take matters into his own hands, because he had access to a gun.

He says in this day and age, especially with school shootings like the one that happened last month at a Colorado school, area schools are taking these threats seriously.

He says at this time, there's no threat to staff or students at Amherst High School.

We also tried to speak to the district superintendent today, but she had no comment.

Cronce is expected to be back in court on March 23rd.

After reading all of these, I am inclined to start looking into what legal action can be taken against the school and board. We've had a similar experience, receiving bullying not from Jon, but the other kid. Problem still not resolved. Ditto on the unlistening school admin.

This is ridiculous. The school didn't do what it should have done and ignored a serious problem. Shame on them.

And the victim gets expelled, and faces jail time. Welcome to America! =]
