We all do everything we can to keep our families safe, especially when one of them is sick.
Pharmacists look over thousands of pills each year, to make sure what you're getting is not only correct, but still effective.
The manager at Wausau's Marshfield Clinic Pharmacy says her crew looks through stock bottles once a month to tag items that will expire in three months.
When a drug is expired, it no longer has the full strength.
"Companies set up the expiration dates based on tests when there is 90% of the drug is left in it so most of the time you're not getting the full potency," says Nikki Tieman.
