Learning to look both ways when crossing the street is an important lesson we learn early-on. That's what kids were doing early Thursday morning at a program known as Safety City.
Kids in the Wausau School District learn important life lessons such as being safe in traffic and stranger dangers. Those involved say Safety City is a fun way to help young children stay safe when they go on to kindergarten and beyond.
"All the parents laugh and joke and say that we turn them into back seat drivers but that's good cause its just building awareness, and hopefully it will always be on their minds," says Safety City officer Maureen Pilsner.
The Wausau Police Department along with the Wausau School District sponsors the program. If you're interested in enrolling your child for next year, registration will be early March.
