It's illegal for a motorcycle's exhaust to be louder than 80 decibels, which is how loud Harleys are when they come off the assembly line.
The State Patrol is now teaching local officers how to identify illegal exhaust systems and they want those who own the bikes to know it.
Trooper Jim Binder says, "If you can prevent someone from doing something illegal, that's 10 times better than catching them after they've committed the act."
If you think your motorcycle's exhaust might be too loud you can get it checked out at your local Police or Sheriff's Department.
