A local teacher wants to trade in his chalk for a chance at the governor's chair. Republican George Pobuda is running for governor.

The Tomahawk teacher says his issues are plain and simple. First he wants to preserve public education, then push for campaign finance reform, and finally figure out a better way to fund education with the tax system.

"Just because someone is a common man doesn't mean their issues aren't as important," said Pobuda.

The primary election is Sept. 10. Pobuda will face Gov. Scott McCallum and Bill Lorge.
