No one attempted to bring a gun into the state Capitol on Monday despite calls on Facebook to do just that as part of a national gun rights protest.
Police were posted at every entrance to the Wisconsin Capitol around the noon hour on Monday when the protests were supposed to take place. Signs posted on every door said it was illegal for guns to be brought into the Capitol and violators could face $1,000 fines.
Department of Administration spokeswoman Carla Vigue says no one attempted to come into the building with a gun and there were no arrests.
State and national open carry advocates say they were unaware of the protest listed on a Facebook page titled "National Gun Control Protest Day."
