A Wood County judge says taped phone conversations can be used in the trial against a 25-year-old Wisconsin Rapids man charged with child abuse.

Authorities say Joshua Werner broke 22 of his 2-month-old daughter's bones in 2008.

While he was held in jail, Werner talked to his wife on the phone.

The DA says portions of their conversation will be played during his trial in April.

If convicted, Werner faces up to 32 years in prison.

I thought phone conversations while in lock-up (prison) were not privileged.

This is wrong on so many levels. This man should have the same exact thing done to him, we should not have to spend our tax dollars on feeding him while he sits in jail. I feel for the little baby, and Im wondering where was the mother? Pretty sure I would have stepped in and stopped that long before it would have ever happened to my kid.

GOOD. TAPES SHOULD BE ADMISSABLE IN COURT FOR THINGS LIKE THIS... CHILDREN ARE INNOCENT AND CANNOT PROTECT THEMSELVES. SOMEONE NEED TO BEAT HIM! CJ STUDENT
