Owners of the downtown Madison hot spot, Brothers Bar and Grill, say it's not fair the UW is demolishing their building to build a new music facility.
They've created a new campaign to put pressure on the university to either back down or, pay up more.
The current offer on the table is $2.1 million dollars. The US System says that's a million dollars more than a recent, independent appraisal.
And board of regents spokesman David Giroux says the condemnation is fair, "can understand the property owners concerns. but there's a very, very fair offer on the table. One that's good for them, good for taxpayers, good for students. And we think it's win-win."
But Brothers owner Marc Fortney says, "I didn't ask to be condemned, I don't want to be. It is a classic david and goliath event that is going on there."
In addition to this ongoing battle, Brothers filed a lawsuit against the UW Board of Regents.
It's an effort to stop the condemnation on the basis that the UW is premature in its actions and that the new music facility is far from reality.
That trial is set for the beginning of April.
