This entire holiday season, not a single fire broke out in the City of Wausau.
A Battalion Chief with the Wausau Fire Department says their annual "Keep the Wreath Green" campaign was the reason for it.
Since Thanksgiving, they've hung this green wreath outside their doors on Grand Avenue. It's meant to remind everyone that if there's a fire, they'll replace a green bulb with a red one.
Thankfully, they didn't have to this year, but a single white bulb is permanently placed on the wreath.
"The white bulb is for all the fire fighters who were injured or killed in the line of duty as a remembrance to all of the brave souls," Battalion Chief Tom Leslie.
It's important to make sure you never leave a stove unattended when you are cooking this time of year.
He says that's the number one cause of house fires.
